November Rail Trail News

In Keene, new signage has been installed at the start of the Ashuelot Rail Trail opposite ‘The Center at Colony Mill’.

As can be seen in the photo, the sign is a bit future proof showing the work on the Ami Brown trail which should be completed in 2021 and a completed Cheshire Rail Trail over NH101 which should complete in 2027! Also, it should be noted that next to this sign a park bench has been installed.

In Troy, the Depot has a fresh coat of paint and looks awesome!

Additionally, work has been done to shore up and stabilize the freight depot. As one of the last freight depots still standing in the area, it is great to see this work being done.

In Winchester, work has been completed to re-deck the ‘north’ bridge on the Ashuelot Rail Trail. This bridge is one of four identical bridges on the trail and hadn’t been updated for almost thirty years.

After!

This work was organized and performed by the Winchester Trail Riders snowmobile club. Two days of hard work by about ten club members was required to remove the old decking, replace some of the 10″x10″ ties, and put down new decking. A big shout out to the Winchester Trail Riders and all of the area snowmobile clubs that put in so much effort to maintain the trails!
