Monadnock Region Rail Trail Collaborative
The mission of the Collaborative is to promote the reconstruction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and use of the Monadnock Region’s rail trail network: The Cheshire, Ashuelot, Fort Hill, Monadnock, Hillsborough, and other Monadnock Region rail trails (hereinafter the “Rail Trails”). The goal is to upgrade and improve the Rail Trails to a standard that is suitable for walkers, bikers, hikers, runners, Nordic skiers, snowmobilers, snowshoers, and equestrians of all ages. The extent of the mission is to connect southwest New Hampshire, via the Rail Trails, to Bellows Falls, VT; Brattleboro, VT; and Winchendon, MA, trail networks.

📸 Show Us How You Enjoy the Rail Trails! Help us bring the Monadnock Region's rail trails to life! The Monadnock Region Rail Trail Collaborative (MRRTC) is developing a new website, and we want to feature the people, places, and experiences that make our regional rail trails so special. We're looking for your favorite photographs of people enjoying our rail trails! Whether it's a family bicycle ride, friends enjoying a walk, someone walking their dog, a snowmobile outing, or a stop at a covered bridge, local restaurant, or scenic overlook, we'd love to see your pictures. We're especially interested in photographs from our five regional rail trails: Cheshire Rail Trail Ashuelot Rail Trail Fort Hill Rail Trail Monadnock Rail Trail Peterborough/Hillsborough Rail Trail 📅 Photo Submission Deadline: December 1, 2026 How to Submit Your Photographs Email your photographs to: info@monadnockrailtrails.org Please include: Rail Trail: Which rail trail was the photograph taken on? Location: The approximate town, landmark, or nearby trail feature. Your Name: The photographer's name. Your Email Address: So we can contact you if necessary. Description (optional): Tell us a little about the photograph or your trail experience. Please submit only photographs you took or have permission to share. If recognizable people appear in your photographs, please make sure they have agreed to their images being used by MRRTC. For children under 18, permission from a parent or legal guardian is required. Photo Permission: By submitting photographs, you confirm that you own or have the authority to license them and grant MRRTC permission to use them in its nonprofit website, social media, newsletters, and other promotional materials. You retain ownership of your photographs. MRRTC may contact you for additional permissions or releases before publication. Selected photographs may be featured on our new website and in our communications, helping us share the beauty, enjoyment, and value of the Monadnock Region's rail trails. Howdy Folks! Sorry I haven't been more communicative. On June 29, while in Boston attending a World Cup Watch Party, I tripped on an old, uneven sidewalk and fractured my right patella. I was in a Forrest Gump style brace from my thigh to my ankle for six weeks while my knee cap mended. I'm back on my bike every-other-day or so. The left knee is good and mostly healed from a total knee replacement in March, but the right knee is now weaker than ever. It will be replaced Oct. 7. I can't wait to get all this behind me and ride! I enjoyed a beautiful ride through the Cut in Westmoreland this past weekend. The wildflowers were amazing! Get on out there! I was able to identify the following: Boneset Primrose Aster Wild carrot Tall meadow rue Broadleaf Cattail Wrinkle leaf goldenrod Jack in the pulpit Oriental lady's thumb Parasol whitetop Pokeweed Silverrod Rattlesnake root
