In Keene, the city has been given permission by the State of New Hampshire to advertise for bids for phase three work on the Cheshire rail trail north of Hurricane Road. This project, as show in section 3 of our plans area of this website, also includes work on Ami Brown Trail which will link the Cheshire rail trail to Summit Ridge Drive near the YMCA. It is already October, so we will have to see if any construction happens this year or if it starts in the spring of 2021.
Speaking of 2021, there will be two projects funded by Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant:
The first project will be managed by the Monadnock Conservancy and will improve the Cheshire rail trail in Fitzwilliam from Old Turnpike road to Templeton Turnpike (Near the SIP pond and the Chamberlain conservation area). This project will include drainage and culvert work, improving the trail surface, and a new bridge over Scott Brook.
The second project, also funded by an RTP grant, will be for the Town of Swanzey to clear and improve drainage and extensively mow along both the Cheshire and Ashuelot rail trails in Swanzey.
